Poverty and environmental degradation are much related, one of their main causes is the globally unsustainable production and consumption; starting by the most industrialized countries that indirectly these countries include the others too. Thatâ€™s why we want to focus on ecoefficiency that enables to boosts goods and services, using less of natural resources and mitigating our contamination. So, to take measures that improve the environmental conditions itâ€™s important to consider the imbalances about it, they are a reality not alien to any country. Close attention should be paid to the unnecessary overconsumption and redirect it to an efficient and responsible use. As this exaggerate situation happens, there is still a big piece of humanity that is not close to the basic consumption of this exaggerated production, not even close to the minimum essential basket of goods; they donâ€™t receive either any benefits from health, housing nor education. It is possible to achieve progress through promoting and strengthening the positive trends that are emerging, as a complement to the process for changing the trends of consumption and productions of the industries, government, civil society and others that are involved too.

The environmental legislation should be understood as the regulation in which the main goal is to protect the environment, and the prevention of the risk the living beingâ€™s health or life could face; by controlling the pollutants and the hazardous waste management. The environmental issues become because of the weaknesses on the market and the government. To change this situation, there needs to be changes in the environmental policies, as well as the institutional framework in the public and private sector. In the last 15 years, Peru has shown an important progress in its environmental policies. This is reflected in its 3 basic components: defining its objectives, the organization in the country and in its environmental management tools. Since Peru is one of the megadiverse countries in the world, it is also environmentally vulnerable, this creates an urgent necessity to prioritize and emphasize the environmental policies and connect them with the general challenges and fight against poverty.
